On January 15 and 16, 2020, the 11th Gaidar Forum devote to Russia and the World : Challenges of the New Decade took place in Moscow. Lilia Ovcharova, director of the Institute for Social Policy, and Oxana Sinyavskaya, deputy director of the same Institute, took part in the Forum.

Svetlana Mareeva, Yulia Lezhnina and Vasily Anikin, employees of the Center for Stratification Studies, are honored with the 2019 Moscow Government Award for Young Scientists in the "Social Sciences" nomination. The victory was awarded to the scientific team for a significant contribution to research of social structure and social inequality in modern Russian society.

On December 25, 2019, Lilia Ovcharova, director of the Institute, took part in the seventh meeting, the last one in 2019, of the Public Council under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.
On December 24, 2019 Lilia Ovcharova, director of the Institute for Social Policy, took part in the meeting of the Commission on Social Support of the Population, Pension and Social Insurance of the Public Council under the Russian Ministry of Labor.
HSE University hosted a Russian-Chinese meeting on ‘Social policy as a tool for combating poverty and developing human capital’. Representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, the World Bank, the Russian Pension Fund, the government of Tatarstan, and HSE University researchers evaluated the social policies of both countries, shared effective measures for combating and eliminating poverty.
The round table Cooperation of the University, Local Museums and Local Communities as a Way to Promote Cultural Heritage, held on December 19, was organized by the National Research University "Higher school of Economics". Heads of departments of culture and cultural heritage of Moscow, directors of Moscow museums promoting the history of the city, publishers of literature on Moscow studies, specialists of the Higher School of Economics were invited to it.
