Education and socialization of children with migration status

In 2019 Institute for Education and Institute for Social Policy will start the implementation of the “Education and Socialization of Children with Migration Status” project. The regional branch of UNICEF in Europe and Central Asia requested the project.

The project the “Education and Socialization of children with Migration Status” aims to develop the methodology and instruments for the research, to conduct the series of interviews with the migrant families from Middle Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan) and Kazakhstan, as well as interviews with employees of education system and non-profit organizations in Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk. The analytical report of the UNICEF will present the results of the research and provide the recommendations on the migrants’ children adaption.

The adaptation and integration of migrants’ children in Russia are among the major research topics for the Institute for Social Policy. In the last two years, the Institute has carried out the research to understand the adaptation patterns of migrants’ children in Moscow and Moscow region schools, published papers in Russian and in English, held several scientific seminars and conferences.
