Events - 2021

On May 27, 2021, the Institute for Social Policy hold the online Academic Workshop devoted to Human Potential of Russians.

The workshop listened to the Institute’s new colleague Anastasia Karavay, Senior Research Fellow, Center for Stratification Studies, who spoke on "Human Potential of Russians: Components, State and Role in Stratification and Socio-Economic Adaptation".

In her presentation the author, summarizing the results of her work in various research projects, focused on how each of the components of human potential - cultural and human capital, as well as health - influences the place of individuals in the social space. She also characterized the current state of human capital of the two main groups of Russian workers - workers and specialists of higher qualification and showed the mechanisms of human capital influence on the processes of socio-economic adaptation, i.e. on the opportunities of the population to maintain and improve their financial situation.

Anastasia V. Karavay, Ph.D. in Sociology, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Stratification Studies, HSE, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Sociology, FNISC RAS. Main research interests: social structure of Russian society, human capital of certain professional groups, socio-economic adaptation of the population, social problems of employment. Author of more than 30 scientific papers, including articles in leading scientific journals and chapters in collective monographs. She has participated in major national and international research on human potential and social stratification of Russian society.
