The report of the Centre for Regional Programmes of Social and Cultural Development was presented at the international UNESCO conference in Kazan

The international forum "Astronomy and the World Heritage” under the auspices of UNESCO, was held in Kazan from 2 to 5 December.

The forum presented a detailed review of "Astronomical heritage in the UNESCO world heritage list", prepared by the specialists of the Centre for Regional Programmes of Social and Cultural Development Pavel Shulgin, Olga Shtele and Svetlana Murashkina. The report was made by Pavel Shulgin – the Head of the Centre.

The report carried out a typological analysis of historical monuments associated with astronomical heritage, considered in detail all examples of the inclusion of such objects in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as possible examples of further expansion of this list.

The international forum was held in connection with the preparation of the nomination of historical astronomical observatories of Kazan University to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The conference was attended by scientists and specialists from more than 20 countries, representatives of the International Astronomical Union, scientists from various observatories of the world, experts in the history of science, architects, landscape designers, etc.
