Retirement age: from a stringent scenario to a moderate one

On June 10, 2018, the newspaper Vechernaya Moskva published on its website a column by Sergey Smirnov.

The Russian government has approved the concept of pension reform that can start next year and concern the retirement age.

Three options of raising the retirement age have been proposed and the most “hard” of them has been adopted as a basis. It provides for raising the retirement age by five years for men (up to 65 years) and for eight years for women (up to 63 years).

In Smirnov’s opinion, as a result of all discussions and protests, the retirement age for women will go up to 60 instead of planned 63.
